Rhythm tap also known as "hoffin" or "buck tap", originated in the United States through the fusion of several ethnic percussive dances- - - primarily African tribal dance. It uses close floor, heavy heels, paddle and roll steps...typically in a rapid and rhythmic nature that creates an amazing sound. Rhythm tap heavily influenced the music of the 1920's jazz era all the way through the 1930's swing sensation. Started out by such great performers as John Bubbles and the Condo Brothers, and continued by Gregory Hines and Savion Glover. This class concentrates on heavy rhythmic sounds and increasing speed, while enjoying the hottest sounds of the jazz, funk, and hip hop eras.
